Reasons to have an engagement session Colorado Wedding Planning Resources by Colorado Wedding photographer Jennie Crate

You’ve taken the big steps in your wedding planning: venue–check; planner–check; photographer–double check.  Now its time to settle in and enjoy the process from now until “I do”. One of the things to consider? Whether you’d like to do a Colorado Engagement session.

Of course, not everyone wants to do an engagement session, and that is totally fine (about 25% of couples I work with choose not to do one), but if you’re on the fence, here are a few reasons why I really enjoy engagement sessions.

3 REASONS WHY COLORADO ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS ROCK

1. You get to disconnect (from your phone) and reconnect (with each other)
Engagement sessions are a great excuse to plan a day of quality time away from your busy and hectic lives.  I love sessions that are planned around activities you enjoy doing together and places you love exploring with each other. We can go for ice cream, wander your favorite Denver neighborhood, or drive up to the mountains to take in the fresh air.  Whatever you choose to do, make a conscious effort to put away your phone, take each other’s hands, and remember all the things about the other person you absolutely love.

2. You get a sense of what its like to be in front of the camera
Let’s face it, none of us are super models.  At least I’m not. So its totally normal that you might be feeling a little nervous about being in front of the camera.  You might be thinking “It’s going to be so awkward” or “I won’t know what to do” and THAT’s OK!  Its my job to help you relax.  I will also give you permission to do lots of kissing, cudding, and laughing, all things you’re a natural at already.

Plus, by taking the time to get know how I work, and letting me have the time to learn how you interact, you’ll be a pro by the time you jump in front of the camera again on your wedding day.

3. You’ll get awesome photos
This is probably a no-brainer, but I’m going to guess that its been awhile since you’ve had professional photos together (if you ever have).  After our session, you’ll have new photos for your profile pics, your save the dates, and your walls.
