A Senior Portrait Shootout
Since we’ve been in Colorado, I’ve made a real effort to network and to meet people, both photographers and wedding vendors. I’ve met some amazing people so far, and through one of my Facebook groups I was connected with a group of ladies who were all about getting to know each other, bettering themselves as photographers and businesswomen, and having some fun in the process.
I attended the initial meet and greet back in June and we were all determined to make our group active, insightful, informative, and fun! We named our selves the Denver Photo Betties, set up monthly happy hours, and started planning events and meetings.
Our first planned meeting was an urban shootout with four models in downtown Denver’s Millennium Park. We had a bridal model, a senior model, a maternity model, and a couple. It was so awesome to be able to play with photography in a cool location and try new things. Then we started sharing our results on our Facebook page and it was so cool to see the results! I could shoot right next to someone, use different equipment, compose differently, and get two totally different shots.
Seeing everyone else’s work also made me evaluate my own strengths and weaknesses and has pushed me to try new things and be more conscious of other decisions I make when shooting.
I’ll be blogging about each part of the shootout in the next couple weeks, but I’ll start with our senior model, Mandy. She just graduated from high school, is currently in cosmetology school, and was awesome at the shoot. She even agreed to walk up a very high wall only a foot wide, then stood there looking absolutely gorgeous while we shot away below and beside her.
Below are my favorite results!
