Where is the Vail Wedding Deck located?

Vail Wedding Deck is located at the top of Vail Mountain. To get there, you take the Eagle Bahn Gondola from Vail Village to the very top. Then you walk down a short paved path along the ridge, away from the restaurant. The Wedding Deck is also known as the Holy Cross Wedding Deck, but it’s not religiously affiliated and there is no religious decoration.

What is the feel of a Vail Wedding Deck wedding?

From their site:

Situated at the top of Vail Mountain in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, The Wedding Deck offers majestic 360-degree views of the Vail Valley and Gore Mountain Range. Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and stunning memories, The Wedding Deck really is like nothing on earth.

Vibe: Low key, elegant, mountain

Favorite Part: The stone amphitheater at the Vail Wedding deck boasts spectacular views for your ceremony.  It feels intimate, removed from the real world, and classic.

Overall Impressions: I love this venue for its intimate feel. The stone amphitheater is prefect for small weddings of about 100 people and the nearby restaurant boasts the perfect blank canvas for your reception.

Pro Tips for getting married at the Vail Wedding Deck

There is a getting ready space at the top of the mountain, but it has no windows and no natural light.  I would highly recommend getting fully ready somewhere in Vail Village and then heading to the top of the mountain for photos and holding pre-ceremony.

The Vail Wedding Deck offers an affordable option for a ceremony space, but be aware that there are often multiple weddings at the site a day and you only get the ceremony space for 2 hours.  I would recommend either the 4pm or the 6pm time slot (depending on sunset times) so you have ample time for ceremony and family photos and plenty of time to explore for couple’s photos at sunset.

At the top of a mountain, the Vail Wedding Deck is also a high altitude ceremony site. Make sure your guests are prepared by checking out my 10 Tips for Getting Married at Altitude.

I travel all over the state of Colorado and across the US to capture connected wedding stories for devoted and courageous couples. I love Vail and I would love to be your Vail Wedding Deck wedding photographer!
