Breckenridge Photography Retreat

Breckenridge in Winter

This past January I was fortunate enough to take a weekend to head to the mountains with a small group of Rocky Mountain Wedding Photographers for a relaxed and rejuvenating weekend in Breckenridge.

I left work on a Friday afternoon and drove up I-70. By the time I arrived in Breckenridge the snow was coming down–lightly, but enough to make the snow packed roads up to our Air B&B impossible for me to climb in our little front wheel drive Chevy.  Luckily I was just behind another group who actually got stuck in the snow, so I learned from them and didn’t even try to navigate the roads. Instead, I parked in long term skier parking in town and hitched a ride up to the house.

From the start the weekend felt relaxing and rejuvenating.

To start, we stayed in an absolutely gorgeous house, with floor to ceiling windows looking out over snow packed evergreens.  The kitchen was open, the living rooms were cozy and comfortable, and the whole house felt modern and rustic and perfect for our retreat.

Over the next three days I spent hours lounging in front of the fire, soaking in the hot tub by moonlight, eating delicious home cooked meals, and just enjoying the opportunity to be surrounded by photographers and business women.  I spent some time blogging and editing images from my 2017 2nd shooting jobs, but mostly I took the time to relax and just enjoy.

I got a massage. I did yoga.  I spent time playing in the snow for some new headshots. I took a few images at our scheduled shootout.

Overall, it was fantastic.  I can’t wait to go back next January!

Images below are from our scheduled shoot out in downtown Breckenridge and up Boreas Pass.  Thanks to our amazing couples who braved the cold with us!
