Captiva Island Beach Wedding | Lindsey and Jonathan

This beautiful Captiva Island Beach Wedding was an intimate family affair.  It just also happened to be my family! Jonathan is one of my first cousins and though we saw each other more frequently when we were younger, their family moved to Texas years ago and our lives took much different paths. We became Facebook friends a few years ago and have kept up with each other digitally, so it was an honor to be asked to photograph his and Lindsey’s wedding.

Though they’ve known each other for quite a few years, Jonathan and Lindsey’s lives also took different paths until they reconnected about a year ago.  Very quickly it was clear that they were perfect for each other and it wasn’t long before they were engaged and planning an intimate destination wedding in Florida.

Funny story about their wedding planning: They had originally been invited to spend a week at the beach with Jonathan’s aunt, as just a vacation. But when they started thinking about what they wanted their wedding day to be like, they asked if they could commandeer the beach week and host their wedding that week too.  Of course the family said yes, and so began a world wind three month planning process that ended with a intimate beach wedding an backyard reception.

The August day was hot in Florida (of course), but the breeze picked up in time for their sunset vows. That breeze turned into a summer storm that brought black clouds and rain, but thankfully not until after their vows and sunset portraits on the beach. I love that Lindsey and Jonathan didn’t let the rain ruin their day and they completely went with the flow. When it was pouring rain, they ate their (homecooked!) dinner inside. When it was sprinkling they did their first dances in the rain.  And when it cleared up completely, they brought their dance party outside under the market lights.

Jonathan and Lindsey I am so happy to have been able to celebrate with you and to see your joy as you joined your families into one.
