Denver Photo Betties Elk Meadow Shootout
I’ve been a part of the Denver Photo Betties for three years and I’m thankful almost every day for this supportive community of local female photographers. The online forum rocks, I’ve made amazing connections in the industry, and I frequently have the chance to grow and learn from the talented women that surround me.
One of the things I love most about the Betties is that we often have opportunities to photograph together. Whether I 2nd shoot for other photographers, I invite them to shoot with me, or we get together for a creative portfolio building session, there are always opportunities to network together.
This past August we organized the Denver Photo Betties Elk Meadow Shootout. About 20 photographers came together to work with four amazing couples and over the course of the afternoon we captured some awesome stuff.
I especially loved the opportunity to try new angles and to meet women that I’d only connected with over Facebook.
As you can see from this first photo, we worked in small groups with each of our couples, which gave each photographer the chance to take the lead, shoot for their brand, and create something that represented them.
Chelsea and Joshua
I met Chelsea a couple of year ago when we partnered on the Ice Castles shoot. Chelsea is an amazing make-up artist, but I’d never had the opportunity to photograph her. Since we met, she’s gotten married to Joshua and they’ve had a baby, so this session was a great opportunity for them to escape for the afternoon and spend some quality time together. I love their offbeat look, which totally goes with my brand of working with couples who aren’t afraid to be themselves.
Katie and Scott
Katie is a fellow photographer in the Betties. We’ve run into each other at networking events over the last couple of years and always enjoy catching up. She married her husband, Scott, last year and thankfully they still love to get dressed up and jump in front of the camera.Libbie and Sev
Libbie is also a photographer in the Betties, though we had never met before the shootout. I love that she chose to wear a short white wedding dress and sparkly heels for this shoot. Libby and Sev’s laughter and ability to connect quietly was also the perfect match for my brand.
