Dream Lake Hiking Engagement | Taylor and Cat
I’ve been wanting to photograph a Dream Lake Hiking Engagement for quite awhile, so when Cat and Taylor said they wanted to do their session in the fall, we agreed it would be the perfect location and quickly settled on a date that would time peak fall colors in the mountains.
Little did we know that Colorado would have a very different ideas for us.
It stormed on our first date and we didn’t want to risk hiking in a thunderstorm, so we postponed for a couple of weeks. Then on our second attempt, we drove all the way to the Rocky Mountain National Park visitor center only to sit in a torrential downpour for 20 minutes before calling it.
Finally, on our third attempt, we scored a sunny, though chilly, October day and hit the trails early in the morning.
The three hours we spent on the trails were absolute perfection and I so enjoyed getting to know Cat and Taylor as we hiked. We took our time on the trail and stopped wherever the light inspired us (and it was so inspiring the whole time).
One of the things that really stood out to me during their session was how in tune to each other they were. There were moments along the way when I could sense them taking a few moments to check in and it was beautiful to watch their intimate, devoted connection.
We finished the session at Dream Lake, which was insanely windy, but oh so worth the hike.
Cat and Taylor I can’t wait to celebrate your wedding with you in just a few short months!
