let me answer some questions for you

WHAT IS A MICROWEDDING AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT THAN AN ELOPEMENT?

A microwedding is more of a cross-over between an elopement and a larger party. It really focuses on a small group of people who are most important to you, but still brings them along with you on your wedding day experience. While elopements are often more about the ceremony and the photos of the two of you, microweddings are about connecting with your important people across an entire wedding day and documenting those connections.

Elopements are typically wedding ceremonies that include the couple, their officiant (unless you’re in Colorado and you can marry yourself!), your photographer, and maybe a dog or a few close family members. If you’re planning an elopement, you may or may not tell anyone before the fact. You’ll also likely choose to elope in a beautiful location that would be impossible to shuttle lots of people to. Elopements are by definition super small and intimate.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

My goal at every wedding is to capture the essence of your day. I want you to look back at your photos and really feel every moment of your celebration. I live for small, intimate moments, for emotion, and for the story between people. I love photos that capture the environment and look for the epic views and beautiful light everywhere I go.

I’m also not afraid to get IN the moment with you. I believe that you feel a photo more when you are an intimate observer and not just an outside viewer.

Most importantly I want your photos to feel like you. I want you to see how you hold hands, how you look at each other, and how you laugh together. I want you to look at your photos and think “that’s us”.

WE’RE REALLY AWKWARD? HOW WILL YOU MAKE US NOT LOOK AWKWARD IN PHOTOS?

You won’t believe how many people say this when we first talk. And I get it. It can feel very vulnerable to have a camera on you. My job is to help you loosen up by taking the focus off the camera and putting it on each other. I use a mix of prompts, activities, and conversations to get you moving, interacting, and laughing. I’ve had so many people tell me after a session, “wow, that was fun!”

DO YOU TRAVEL?

Yes! I’m the kind of person who is always dreaming of their next trip. I love exploring new places with no expectations. I think some of my best work comes from places I’ve never been to before because I approach everything with fresh eyes.

DO YOU CHARGE TRAVEL FEES?

The short answer is that it depends on location and amount of time I’m hired for your wedding. But I try to keep it simple.

For my 8 hour packages, travel is included up to 4 hours from Denver. For my 6 hour package, travel is included up to 2 hours from Denver.

For elopements or coverage less than 6 hours, I will create a custom travel quote for you that will take into consideration location, distance, and whether I’d need to stay the night somewhere.

For international weddings, I’ll create a custom travel quote for you that will include flights, transportation, and lodging.

HOW MANY IMAGES DO WE GET?

The number of images you receive will depend on a variety of factors, including how long I’m at your wedding, whether I have a 2nd photographer, or the nature of your day. On average I deliver about 50-100 images per hour. All of your delivered images are chosen for quality, emotion, and what they bring to your wedding story. I convert about 5% of images to black and white.

DO WE GET AN ALBUM?

My All-Day package includes a custom, high quality album, with 60 of your favorite images. Albums can be added to any package at any point.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY PHOTOS?

You’ll receive your full wedding gallery in 6-8 weeks. You’ll have your engagement session images in about 3 weeks. If you’re comfortable with it, I will post a few sneak peeks to social media in the week following your wedding or engagement session.

HOW WILL THE IMAGES BE DELIVERED?

You’ll receive your edited, high-resolution images through an online gallery. Within the gallery you’ll be able to download images, share your favorites, watch a slideshow, and order prints through my professional lab.

DO I HAVE THE RIGHTS TO MY PHOTOS? CAN I PRINT THEM MYSELF?

You’ll receive a print release that will allow you to use your images for personal use. You can print them anywhere you like, share them to social media (I’d love a tag!), and design your own albums if you like. As the artist, I retain the copyrights to all images.

WE’RE INTRIGUED. CAN WE MEET?

Yes! Let’s get to know each other! I have small kids, and I know your lives are busy, so I like to set up video chats whenever possible. FaceTime or Zoom give us a chance to see each other, while we chat. If meeting in person is important to you, I’m happy to grab a drink or a cup of coffee at any point during our time working together.

WE’RE READY—HOW CAN WE BOOK YOU?

Awesome, I’m excited that you’re ready to jump in! To secure your date we’ll need a signed contract and a $2000 retainer. The retainer will be applied to your final balance, which is due 30 days before your wedding.

DANGIT, YOU’RE ALREADY BOOKED. DO YOU HAVE AN ASSOCIATE?

Yes! I have two associates who are available to shoot under my brand. They’re basically extensions of me. They shoot in similar styles, paying particular attention to emotion and moments and good light. When you hire an associate you still get me for all of your planning help and I still edit all of your photos. Associate packages come with a 10% discount off of current pricing.

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Yes, absolutely. I have insurance for my equipment and I have liability for anything that could happen at a wedding.

WHAT DO YOU SHOOT WITH?

I’m a Nikon girl and I shoot with two camera bodies at all times. I’m currently using:
Z6ii + Z6ii + 35mm 1.4 + 50mm 1.8 + 85mm 1.8 + 105mm 2.8 + 135mm 2.0 + 70-200mm 2.8 + 14 – 24mm 2.8
I also use off camera flash when needed, but mostly for receptions and night photos.
