Goal #72 – Brandi Carlile in Concert

Ever since we first visited Red Rocks for a hike, I’ve wanted to go to a concert there.  Last summer we saw E.T. at Film on the Rocks, but this summer we had a last minute chance to score tickets to the Brandi Carlile concert.  We’re new Brandi fans, thanks to our uncle Dave who gave us a her newest album last Christmas (he has amazing taste in music and has introduced us to so many new artists!) and she didn’t disappoint in concert.

Even though we were delayed for an hour thanks to a torrential downpour prior to the concert (as in so much water we saw cars stuck wheels deep in standing water) and in spite of getting pretty wet waiting to get into the show, we had a great time.  A video of my favorite song on her new album is below:

We also enjoyed the pre-performance by the Lone Bellows, a group we’ve never heard of, but who thoroughly impressed us with both their music and their willingness to get on stage among puddles of water and risk getting electrocuted, all in the name of a good show.  Check out a video of them below:

Finally, the photos of our experience!

  1. I was there! The rain and lightning was CRAZY. Great show. We traveled from Seattle to see her. She’s so amazing. Can’t wait to see her again at the end of August here in Seattle.
