Where is Granby Ranch?

Granby Ranch, is in Granby, CO, which falls in Grand County. The official address is 1000 Village Rd, Granby, CO 80446. Located only 90 miles from Denver, Granby is another intimate feeling ski area that hosts fabulous weddings on the top of a mountain.

What is the overall feel of weddings at Granby Ranch?

From their site:

Your wedding weekend at Granby Ranch will be everything but ordinary. Nestled in a secluded mountain valley with chairlift access to sweeping views from Winter Park to Grand Lake, Granby Ranch is the ideal setting for an intimate Rocky Mountain wedding. We offer multiple discounted lodging options, a rehearsal dinner venue, ceremony and reception sites and event services. Add to that an 18-hole championship golf course, hundreds of acres of mountain biking trails, lift-served hiking, cross country and downhill skiing, and three miles of gold-medal fishing.

Granby Ranch Weddings feel intimate with a rustic touch. Think elegant mountain weddings without a stuffy resort feel.

Where is the ceremony space at Granby Ranch?

The ceremony site is hands down the most breathtaking spot on the property.  Perched on a plateau next to a steep hillside and adjacent to a beautiful grove of aspens, your guests will LOVE their time on the top of the mountain.

You and your guests will access the spot via chair lift which takes you to the top of the world.

You’ll also fine a yurt near the ceremony space which is a favorite spot for couples and wedding parties to hang out while they wait for the wedding ceremony to start.

Where do I hold my reception at Granby Ranch?

After the ceremony your guests can head down the mountain to the open lawn at the base of the chair lit. Here they can enjoy cocktails, outdoor lawn games, and fresh mountain air as the sun starts setting towards the mountains.

Dinner and dancing for up to 250 people can be held indoors, or under a tent outdoors.

Pro tips for getting married at Granby Ranch

The lifts down the mountain close promptly at 4:00, so if you want couples portraits and bridal party photos at the top of the mountain, you’ll want to plan for a first look.  Post ceremony, you’ll have very limited time to get through family photos before being ushered back down to the reception.

Plan to sneak out for sunset photos in the open lawn at the base of the mountain. The light is magical and it’ll be a welcome break from your reception.

Don’t forget about the affects of altitude! The town of Granby is sits at about 8,000 feet. While not the highest Colorado mountain town, you will be higher in elevation during the ceremony. I recommend checking out my 10 tips for getting married at altitude so you can prepare yourself and your guests for a mountain wedding experience.
