Halfway House Wedding | Boulder, CO | Victoria + Ashlee
Victoria and Ashlee have been looking forward to their wedding day for over a year. They had originally planned to elope in Aspen, but after moving back to Colorado they decided they would like to do a celebration a little bit closer to their home in Loveland.
We had plans to explore Brainard Recreation area together, but a week before the wedding, we were really afraid we were going to get consistent afternoon thunderstorms. So a couple of days before wedding day, we made the decision to switch their ceremony to Boulder, up Flagstaff mountain.
They rented the Halfway House up Flastaff Mountain, which was actually rather fitting, since they had gotten engaged at Chautauqua Park at the base of Flagstaff Mountain.
We started with a first look among the wildflowers near Halfway House, which were vibrant and purple the week of their wedding. Though they both had a general idea of what each was wearing, their final looks were still a secret. Ashlee rocked an amazing set of white tuxedo pants, a really cool jacket, and a lace bralette which was the perfect sexy detail to elevate her wedding look. Victoria had originally planned to wear a yellow lace dress, but decided that a form-fitting white dress was more in line with her vision. Through butt squeezes and laughter these two laid eyes on each for the first time.
Then they held their ceremony on the patio of the halfway house, and thankfully the rain stayed at bay.
Their wedding was intimate, and they invited only their immediate family to celebrate with them.
Victoria started crying almost as soon as she started speaking and their ceremony felt so full of hope, and thankfulness, and joy. Victoria chose to read her vows in front of their family, and then they exchanged rings together. After their first kiss sealed them is married, they shared Bundtini’s with their family and thanked everyone for coming.
Then we headed off on our own to do more portraits of the two of them. We headed back to the field of wildflowers, where the late sun was just starting to peek through the clouds. The golden glow highlighted their love and excitement, and their easy chemistry made their portraits so much fun. After we left the wildflowers we headed up to Lost Gulch overlook where they took in the views together.
It was calm and sunny at the overlook, with only a couple of people scattered around. They chose a spot at the end of the rocks, where Ashlee shared her vows with Victoria. After her vows she gave Victoria the notebook they were written in, which had been a journal for her over the last year as they documented their lives and wedding prep together.
Then they popped a bottle of champagne, which had a sticker with their wedding date on it. They had bought the bottle a year before, and put the sticker on it as the goal they were reaching when they would open it.
After our goodbye hugs, Ashlee and Victoria headed to Denver to enjoy an evening of wine and celebration with their families.
Their wedding day 100% exemplified that even though plans can change, your wedding vision can shift, and it can still remain true to all the things that are important to you.
