Where is Hermit Park?

Hermit Park Open Space is located just outside of Estes Park, Colorado. You pass it on your drive into Estes Park from Lyons. The Open Space features camping and hiking, as well as a picnic pavilion where you can host weddings and informal events. The Park is also not far from Rocky Mountain National Park.

What is the overall feel of Hermit Park?

From their site:

The 1,362 acres of Hermit Park Open Space nestle into the hills at 7,880-8,964 feet elevation. Ponderosa pine forests and wetland meadows characterize this beautiful property and its abundant habitat for an impressive variety of mountain wildlife. Features include cabins, RV and tent camping, group campground, reservable group pavilion, and trails for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking.

The preservation of this stunning area was a joint effort between Larimer County, Agilent Technologies, Town of Estes Park, Estes Valley Land Trust, Great Outdoors Colorado, City of Loveland, Erion Foundation, City of Fort Collins, McWhinney Foundation, Town of Berthoud, and many more contributors.

This venue is outdoorsy, mountainous, and really low key. It’s a very affordable way to host an outdoor wedding near Estes Park!

Overall Impressions: The ceremony spot in Hermit Park is beautiful, but don’t expect many amenities.  There is a picnic shelter and a bathroom, but you’ll have to bring in anything else you need.  You also can never predict the weather in the mountains in the summer and there are no indoor spaces to use as a backup plan.

Where do I get ready at Hermit Park?

The park is primitive with the only campsites on site, so definitely plan to book an Airbnb or VRBO for your wedding party or family to get married prior to heading to Hermit Park.

Pro tips for getting married at Hermit Park

Hermit Park is very close to the Beaver Meadows entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. Consider building time in to explore the park for portraits (2 hours would be great!).
