Lawn Lake Trailhead RMNP Engagement | Lihsia and Lewis
Lihsia and Lewis live fairly close to me in Northern Colorado and it’s always fun getting to know people from my neck of the woods. We first started chatting in early 2019, before they had any really solid plans for their 2020 wedding. Fast forward to late summer and they’ve found the perfect venue in Grand Lake and were excited to get outdoor for their Lawn Lake Trailhead RMNP Engagement session.
I’d never been to Long Lake Trailhead before, but it didn’t disappoint. There is so much variety in a relatively small area. We had groves of aspens, beautiful fields, a creek, and mountain views.
One of the things that I loved most about working with Lihsia and Lewis was that they laughed so much. They have crazy cool energy that feeds off each other. And whether they were cracking each other up, or laughing as they froze their toes in the creek, it made for some beautiful, connected portraits.
And yes, I did say they froze their toes in the creek. Even though our session was in August, those Colorado creeks rarely heat up much. There is only so much time you can spend in the creek before you need to jump out and warm up your feet. And before you ask, yes, I got in too :)
After we could feel our feet again, we explored the views of the mountains from the trail, just as an afternoon storm was starting to roll in. We weren’t sure if we’d be able to get much of a sunset up on Trail Ridge Road (a favorite spot to end a RMNP Engagement Session), but we decided to try.
As we were driving up we could see the mist and fog gathering and feel the wind picking up. But we also saw incredible light on the side of the road. So we hopped out of the car to explore. It was freezing by this point and so so windy. We braved the cold for about 10 minutes. But wow.
We were literally in the sunset.
I’ve never experienced something quite so cool before and I feel so lucky that I got to share the experience with these two.
