Mt. Evans Engagement | Annie and Marshall

Mt. Evans Engagement photoWe’d been trying to get Annie and Marshall’s Mt. Evans Engagement session on the calendar since April, but we kept getting rained out.  Finally in early July, we were able to take advantage of a beautiful Thursday afternoon and head to the mountains.

We first met at Echo Lake, where we wandered among the Evergreens and the rocks and chatted about wedding planning, their new adventures of buying a house, and what super powers we’d like to have.  We chased the beautiful light at the lake, then decided to drive to the summit of Mt. Evans and chase it some more.

I’m convinced that driving in a car together is the best way to really get to know each other and this drive was no exception.  Inspired by the surrounding rocky Colorado scenery (which reminded us so much of New Zealand), we shared our favorite historical fiction book series, analyzed the Lord of the Rings and the The Hobbit trilogies, and threw out our favorite TV miniseries recommendations (Game of Thrones from them and Poldark from me).

We jumped out for photographs whenever the scenery inspired us even as we watched the temperature drop.

Finally, we ended right at sunset at one of the most magical locations I’ve ever seen in Colorado.  We had glacial lakes, mountain goats, and an epic setting sun.  Sigh.

I cannot wait to see you both again in just a few short weeks!
