Northern California Babymoon

As I’ve mentioned many times before, we love traveling in our household.

In fact, we just booked a trip to Amsterdam in May because plane tickets from Denver to Europe are ridiculously cheap this spring.

So when I first started making plans to travel to Oakland for Nina and Adam’s engagement in September, I started thinking about how I could make this a family trip too.  Based on the timing, it turned out to be the perfect time for Heather and I to get away together for a babymoon before our newest addition was added to the family in October.

We booked an adorable cottage in Kinsington, CA and planned a long weekend to explore the northern California coast.

And boy was the babymoon perfect.

Not only did we spend a considerable amount of time relaxing in the cottage doing nothing (a very needed break from the day to day), we also carved out time to hit up our favorite San Francisco restaurant, FANG.

Then we hit the road for a very long day exploring Point Reyes National Seashore.  On the recommendations of Nina and Adam our itinerary looked like the following:

  1. Stopped for pastries at the Bovine Bakery in Point Reyes Station (and yes, I absolutely loaded up as I LOVE breakfast and pastries).
  2. Sampled cheese at the Cowgirl Creamery in Point Reyes Station (and bought cheese, bread, and jam to take with us)
  3. Drove to Point Reyes National Seashore
  4. Hiked to Abbots Lagoon and picnicked by the beach
  5. Hopped back in the car and drove to the lighthouse, though were too late to climb down to the structure
  6. Grabbed takeout at Sol Food in San Rafael
  7. Collapsed on our couch back at the cottage and watched 90 Day Fiance

The weather was really misty and cool at Point Reyes but we had a blast anyway.

For this trip, I challenged myself to shoot only film for our personal jaunts, so the focus was on landscapes and scenery.

And, even though I’m not a maternity photographer, I managed to snag a few maternity photos for Heather on this trip.

All in all, this trip was the perfect way for Heather and I to reconnect, relax, and enjoy a new adventure together.  Three of my favorite things with my favorite person.

The first group of photos are my film photos from the hike to Abbot’s Lagoon.  Heather said it was a bit long of a walk for being 8 months pregnant.  Sorry!
