How long have you been in business?
I officially started Prisma Events in 2009.
What made you start Prisma Events?
After years in the hospitality and event industry, in various roles, I gained so much knowledge and experience that I wanted to use it in a bigger way. I wanted to create something that operated at a higher level of service than what I had been allowed to do under corporate management. Taking everything I had learned, I set out to not be “the best” but to do things my way and encompass all the creativity, passion, and love for events that I have.
What is your favorite part of owning your own business?
The freedom. If I succeed, I did that! If I fail, that’s on me. I don’t have to answer to anyone, I choose my team, we pick our clients, and I get full control. The pride I have from looking at how far I’ve taken this little dream already is humbling. I love my job and it’s so much more than that to me – Prisma Events is another child to me and I hope to continue nourishing it for years to come.
Who is your ideal client? Who inspires you in your design?
Our ideal client is the client who trusts us. We have a very collaborative approach to planning with our clients and we want them to be involved every step of the way. Our biggest inspiration in our design is the couple! We ask them lots of questions to get to know them, their love story, what makes them unique as a couple, and what can we bring to the design that makes their guests walk in and say, “Oh, that’s SO them!”. An ideal Prisma client is one who isn’t afraid of color, is looking for something to set their wedding apart, and wants to have FUN on their wedding day!
What do couples need to know about working with you? When working with us, couples should know that we operate with a strong sense of anticipation. If I had a dime for every time a client said, “Oh I never thought of that!”, well, I’d have a LOT of dimes. That’s what we’re here for! We are always working several steps ahead to make sure nothing gets missed. We are a very detailed and organized team, but first and foremost, we want you to enjoy the process. We want our couples to be so excited the day is finally here and not waiting for it all to be over. We want you to love your wedding and love working with us.
What trends are inspiring to you right now? We’re seeing couples get more creative with color palettes – which is always a favorite of ours! Weddings are more than just a formal celebration, they’re an experience. So we are excited to see more interactive elements being introduced to receptions that encourage guests to become a part of the event instead of just a watcher.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?Mint chocolate chip!
Where would you most like to travel?Everywhere! I lived in Germany as a child and have been fortunate to travel to many places – but there is so much more I want to see and experience. I’m currently planning a surprise trip to Japan for my husband!
