Goal #78 – Rustic Chic Styled Shoot
I’ve been wanting to put together a styled photo shoot for some time now, but for awhile I was a bit overwhelmed about where to start. I knew I wanted to do a shoot that would give me some Colorado same-sex wedding photos for our portfolio and to get me in gear, I included the task on my 101 Goals in 1001 days. Being new to Denver, I didn’t know any vendors yet and I knew most of them would be tied up with wedding season anyway. But after thinking about it for awhile I figured I could probably do most of the grunt work myself, and with the help of some amazing friends who agreed to pose as models and pitch in on collecting the details, I think we came out with a killer shoot.
We staged the shoot in downtown Niwot at Whistle Stop Park (just a short distance from Denver) on a beautiful fall day in October.
Addison, Carisa, Julie, and Heather, thanks for all of your help!
Since I have a background in graphic design, I designed the invitation set, drawing inspiration from a stamp I saw at Michaels.
Luckily we were able to borrow a wedding dress that was perfect for our theme.
Since I love baking, this was the perfect time to produce some fall desserts and get creative with the details.
Carisa and Addison, you guys were such awesome models! Its so much fun to photograph two people in love.
Thanks to my wife and wonderful assistant, Heather, for putting together the florals for the shoot.
Too cute!
Many thanks to Julie who lent us the boots and accessories for the day, as well as some of the furniture.
The old caboose was a great rustic prop.
Its kind of amazing what a little bit of crafting can pull together. Good thing I had so much practice in college!
