San Diego Harbor Yacht Wedding

I had the honor of photographing Lizzy and Josh’s wedding in San Diego this fall. And by happenstance, one of my photography peers, Virginia Stiles, also had a wedding in San Diego the next day. So I stuck around the southern California coast and joined Virginia for Lance and Lindsey’s San Diego Harbor Yacht Wedding.

Photographing a wedding on a yacht was a very cool and new experience for me!

I stared the day hanging out with Lance and his groomsmen at an airbnb right on the beach. The relaxed crew took their time getting dressed and enjoying a Mediterranean meal together. Then we headed out to the beach to take photos. After all, for these Colorado residents, the beach was a big appeal in their decision to plan a west coast wedding. Volleyball player Lance also took advantage of the net on the beach and spiked a few balls in his wedding suit.

Lance met Lindsey in the lush gardens of her San Diego hotel for a gorgeous first look. Then we wandered the grounds for photos before heading with the wedding party to the San Diego harbor to board their wedding boat.

The ceremony happened on the top deck of the yacht with the San Diego harbor behind them. Both Lance and Lindsey received cheers as they walked down the aisle and the ceremony was heartfelt and full of personal tributes to family.

After the ceremony, the crew retreated inside for dinner, toasts, and a rousing dance party. Every guest at this wedding, from the smallest kiddos to the oldest adult, made their way to the dance floor at some point during the evening.
