Hi! I’m Jennie
And this is the real me
I believe in goodnight kisses and holding hands as you fall asleep
My wife and I have been married for 10 years and share our house with four furry children, a foster kiddo, and our sons, Easton and Finn.
I’m often quiet, but I could talk about The Bachelorette for hours
I believe that exploring is more important than getting to your destination
When I’m home alone I make pancakes for dinner
I believe that converse shoes are everyday wear: comfort and style
I appreciate the beauty of light, shadow, and subtle emotion in fine art nudes
I am a huge gymnastics fan and I have the DVD collection to prove it
I think that cinnamon rolls can be eaten any time of day
I believe the perfect day is an afternoon in the mountains & a night cuddling at home
I believe that the quietest people often have the greatest inner strength
I re-read my favorite books because a good story never gets old
I believe in planning your dreams
I see the beauty in what makes other people uncomfortable
Some people might say that my family makes them uncomfortable.
But my family is everything to me.
I met my wife when I was 21, when I was a senior in college. We hit it off right away and I knew we had something special. But that didn’t mean our relationship would be easy. We chose to navigate the world together and that meant facing years of challenges as we came out to our family and friends. The struggles early on led us to do a lot of digging into ourselves as we defined who we wanted to be as people and what kind of life we wanted to create for ourselves.
When times were tough, we leaned on each other. We grew together. We laughed loud. We hugged harder. And we trusted in the direction we were headed together.
When it came time to plan our own wedding, we were purposefully very intentional about the people we invited. We built a guest list with the people who were there for us, who answered the phone when we needed it, and who showed up to celebrate US and the beautiful life we had created together. Our photographs show love in the small moments between us and our friends and family and this intimacy is what I strive to capture in every wedding day I photograph.
Here’s the thing. Deep down I’m pretty dorky and
awkward in front of the camera, too.
So I know a thing or two about making you feel comfortable during your session.
“I can’t say enough good things about Jennie Crate. Not only is her photography work incredible, but she was so much fun to be around. She made us feel completely at ease and supported throughout our entire process – and this included replanning our wedding twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic.”
