A few month ago I connected with Brandy a local make-up artist, who was interested in doing a styled bridal shoot so she could get some new photos for her website. Since I love styled shoots, I jumped at the collaboration chance, thinking it would be fun to do a simpler shoot that didn’t require as much planning and coordination as our July 1920’s shoot did.
Brandy had the brilliant idea to reach out to Susan, from Kitty Mae Millinery, maker of amazing bridal and fashion hats.
Until we woke up the morning of the shoot to a dreary, foggy, cold, drizzling day. The day before, we had 65 degree weather and full sun. On top of that, we had two last minute model cancellation (one due to a family emergency, so totally not her fault) so we were scrambling to fill their shoes–or dresses.
I knew we’d probably have some major Tim Gunn, ‘make it work’ moments, but I was still excited to join our models and stylists at Willow Ridge Manor in Morrison.
Luckily we were able to utilize the indoor rooms at the manor and with the help of some good window light we shot some great portraits.
We did get to shoot outdoors a little bit, both individually and at the end when we did some group portraits. Our models were such troopers–I was out in a coat and I was still cold, but they were out in strapless and sleeveless dresses! Despite the fog, or maybe because of it, we created some beautiful shots!
Below are some of the awesome shots we achieved throughout the day. It was a pleasure working with each of you!
