A look back – Burlington, Vermont, Fall 2011

I’m working on getting together my photos from September to put out my last 365 Day Photo Project recap but until then I thought I’d recap a trip Heather and I took last fall for our one year anniversary celebration.

This was actually the trip where I began my 365 Day Photo project and it was the first traveling we had done with our new DSLR camera, so you bet I was all over the place taking pictures!

I planned the trip as a suprise for Heather and didn’t tell here where we were going until the day before we left and we were packing.  We stayed at the Essex Culinary Resort and Spa, located just outside of Burlington, VT for the weekend and spent the days exploring the town, eating amazing food (including a dinner at the chef’s table in the resort restaurant), and celebrating our love in the beautiful fall weather.

We think fall is a great time to travel and I’m so happy that our anniversary falls in September so that we have lots of excuses to take advantage of this beautiful time of year.  This year we’re off to Hawai’i in October for a cousin’s wedding and we’ll celebrate while we’re there.

We’ll see where we end up next year!

The ferry
ride to Vermont featured a couple of hours of beautiful views.

This shot was an example of ‘right place, right time’.  I waited until the boat drifted into the perfect place before I snapped the shutter.

The Essex Culinary Resort and Spa had three main buildings.  This one was ours.
Exploring downtown Burlington on a magnificent fall day.

Bread, cheese, fruit, and wine is one of our favorite meals.  We enjoyed local cheese at a streetside cafe
.
Dragon boats moored at the waterside.
What trip to Vermont would be complete without a visit to the Ben and Jerry’s factory?
Then a stop at the Magic Hat Brewery, one of Heather’s favorite beer companies.
Finally, we got some more amazing views on the drive back to the ferry home.
