Ashley and Kait’s Maroon Bells Elopement

Kait and Ashley flew in from Virginia to elope in the Colorado mountains.

They did their research and landed on Maroon Bells as the perfect spot to say “I do” and managed to grab a coveted picnic spot during peak aspen leaf season in Aspen.

We met at the lake, where Ashley put the finishing touches on her blue suit and bowtie.

We got her in position at the far end of the lake and then waited for Kait to make the walk for the first look.

After a morning of avoiding each other within the same airbnb, they were super excited to see each other for the first time, all dressed up. They laughed, hugged, and shed a couple of tears, while a pair of middle aged women took a bystander video and wished them so much love and luck on their wedding day.

After the first look we hiked a short ways to a secluded spot with a beautiful view of the Bells. Here Ashley and Kait shared their personal vows with each other, with only the sun and the mountains looking on.

Then we met up with their family by the lake for a short ceremony where they exchanged rings and were announced married!

After the ceremony we took some more time to explore for portraits, taking in the warm evening, the rays of sun, and the beautiful Colorado fall landscape. We even had a (safe distance) moose encounter!

Later, we headed to their picnic spot where their family had decorated their table and cooked their dinner meal of tacos. They cut their cake, shared a shot ski with their brothers, popped some champagne and settled in for a delicious dinner as the sun sank behind the mountains.

The day was everything they could have imagined and I’m so happy to have been a part of their celebration!
