Blue Box Donuts Cinnamon Roll Review

For any comparison to be fair, there need to be guidelines. So here are my top priorities when sampling cinnamon rolls:
Is it warm?
Is there a good cinnamon to bread ratio?
Is the bottom burnt?
Is the outside overcooked?
Is the center still gooey?
Is the icing cream cheese based?
Location:

Known for:Â Homemade donuts that sell out daily. When they’re gone, they’re gone and you have to come back tomorrow.
I had high hopes for this cinnamon roll. Â When I came in to purchase some donuts for an office meeting I saw these giant babies, fresh out of the oven. Â They smelled and looked amazing. Â I noticed that there wasn’t a ton of icing, but sometimes that’s okay. Â If the icing is just right, you don’t always need a bunch.
I eagerly awaited lunchtime, where I planned to pair the cinnamon roll with some fresh fruit and indulge.
Sadly, this roll fell very flat. Â Overall, the roll was very dry. Â Even given the good cinnamon flavor and the good buttery taste of the dough, I couldn’t get over the dryness. Â In this instance, it could have used some more icing to wet it down. Â The center wasn’t ooey-gooey enough either.
Overall, I would not eat this roll again.

On another note, even the yeast donuts that looked so good were also dry. If you’re going to go to Blue Box, definitely stick to the cake donuts.
How disappointing! I love cinnamon rolls to but without a gooey center and the right amount of icing, there’s just no point.
It’s even worse when a cinnamon roll LOOKS amazing – like this one – and then falls flat. :(
Cinnamon rolls are my favorite, I love this quest! Have you tried the truck stop ones off of I-25? They claim to have the world’s best cinnamon rolls… not sure I agree with that lol
Good to know the cinnamon rolls aren’t worth while. I love cake donuts though, so I’ll have to check this place out :)
