Casual  Summer Wedding in the Colorado Mountains

In July I joined Candice Benjamin for a Casual Piney River Ranch wedding.  From the start, Sarah and Tim focused on the experience of their guests. They smartly decided not to make a big fuss about the details. Rather they chose low key, elegant details.  I love the simplicity of Sarah’s light lace dress and sparkly sandals.  And for reception decor they decorated magnolia leafs for their place cards.

I also loved that the two prioritized time together outside at sunset.  Their sunset portraits even included the daredevil move of standing up in the canoe at the center of the lake!  I’ve photographed many couples in canoes at Piney River Ranch, but I’ve never seen someone stand up in the middle of the lake.  On top of their canoe shenanigans, Sarah and Tim really took advantage for some sunset time alone together.  We were even blessed with a gorgeous alpenglow, which makes their evening photos look so colorful.

Elegant Summer Wedding Reception

When they got back to their reception they immediately grabbed drinks and jumped into the rest of the fun evening they had planned with their guests.

They tore up the dance floor for several hours as the air outside cooled and the air in the pavilion rose with the dance energy.

Including a late night after party in the Piney River Ranch cabins.  I love that their guests had the opportunity to stay the night at the ranch and awake to the beautiful sunrise the next morning.  If you’ve never spent a night at Piney River Ranch, you should consider it.  Talk about fresh air and inspiring views!
