Denver Biscuit Company Cinnamon Roll Review

If you’ve been following along with the blog, you know that I’m on the hunt for the Best Local Cinnamon Rolls. You can see my previous posts here:

For any comparison to be fair, there need to be guidelines. So here are my top priorities when sampling cinnamon rolls:

Is it warm?
Is there a good cinnamon to bread ratio?
Is the bottom burnt?
Is the outside overcooked?
Is the center still gooey?
Is the icing cream cheese based?

They’re also that company know as Atomic Cowboy, home of Denver Biscuit Company and Fat Sully’s Pizza.  In the same building.  Yeah–kind of confusing.

Mmmmmm….doesn’t it look amazing?  And in my opinion it was pretty darn good.  They make the cinnamon roll out of biscuit dough which is perfect because I’m a huge fan of biscuits.  When I heard that McDonalds was going to start serving breakfast all day, my only concern was whether they would have biscuits all day (sadly, they do not).

The biscuit dough makes the cinnamon roll a bit more dense because Denver Biscuit Company biscuits are huge and filling to start with.  But that’s okay by me because the bread was moist and buttery.

The cinnamon flavor was wonderful and it permeated the entire roll.  The icing on top was plentiful and full of cream cheese goodness.  And as a bonus–I got mine with BACON.  As much as I love cinnamon rolls, I also love bacon.  Putting the two together was a perfect idea.  And they didn’t skimp on the bacon, either.

This roll is huge, so go hungry or be prepared to take it home.  I took more than half of mine home and it was yummy even 2 hours later.  It wasn’t as good the next morning after sitting in a box all night, but I think I should have put it in some Tupperware.

Its also a little pricey for a cinnamon roll, especially if you add bacon (comes in around $10). But I think its worth it if that’s what you’re going to eat for a meal.  $10 for a meal out is pretty good.

Cinnamon Roll Grade: A

I will definitely be back to eat this again.
