Goal #2: A Year of Blogging

Today marks the official one year mark of the launch of our blogsite.  Gee it went fast!

It also marks the completion of another goal on my 101 Goals in 1001 Days list, one I set for myself to hold me accountable for maintaining a consistent web presence.  I think establishing a solid web presence is so important in the first year of business, and I wanted to provide a platform where potential clients could really get a sense for who I am as a person, who I am as a photographer, and who Heather and I are as a couple who run a photography business together.

And while I set my goal to blog twice a week, I had a secret goal to make that three times a week.  Three times a week just seems so much more dynamic than twice and it really pushes me to document our life and to share it with the world.  Scott Dressel-Martin, who taught a photography workshop at the Denver Botanic Gardens last year, mentioned that the point of being a photographer is to show your work to the world, so I wanted to make sure we did just that.  We’re not just showing our wedding or family photographic work, but we’re really showing people who we are, what we do when we’re not photographing clients, and what we’re passionate about.

The official count for the year is 144 blog posts, including this one.  That breaks down to 2.8 posts a week, which exceeds my published goal and almost meets my secret goal–works for me!

Now that I’ve reached this goal and gotten into the habit of posting 2-3 times a week, I don’t think I’ll have a problem keeping that up over the next 52 weeks.  Thank goodness for the ability to schedule posts, though–this option lets me sit down with I have time and crank out posts, then not worry about it for the next week or two unless something major comes up that needs to be blogged about right away.

Thanks for following along with me for the last 144 posts–here’s to 144 more!  And if you have topics you’re interested in, let me know and I’ll work up some reader specific posts.
