Goal #44 Part 3 – Touring the Island

An awesome perk of knowing a native Hawaiian family is getting a personalized tour of the island.  We got the first class drive-around of Oahu, hitting all the local favorites including beaches, overlooks, and some awesome local cuisine.

We started out at Rainbow, a restaurant that made its way onto
Diners,  Drive-ins, and Dives.
The French Toast made with Hawaiian bread was amazing.

The first overlook stop featured amazing coastline with some very choppy surf.
We were not the only ones who ignored the sign by the wall.

Our next stop was a macadamia nut farm.  Beautiful foliage, awesome gift shop, and a spot to crack our own macadamia nuts!

At another spot we checked out the “Chinaman’s Hat”.
Finally we ended the day with a stop at world famous Giovanni’s for a feast of freshly prepared garlic shrimp. Mmmmmm.

We captured the last of the light at Sunset Beach before heading home.  My sunglasses made an impromptu filter which brought out the beautiful sunset colors.
