Katie and Peter's Homestead Wedding

Katie and Peter‘s wedding at deer Creek Valley Ranch was infused with off and on the rain, but it didn’t matter to them one bit.

When I arrived, Katie and Peter were hanging out with their friends in separate spaces, and completely at ease and relaxed about their wedding day.

After exchanging letters to each other, which brought on some initial tears, we headed out for a first look along the evergreen lined road. We were prepared for some sprinkles, but they held off for about 30 minutes so Katie and Peter could take in the moment with joy. One of my favorite moments, the look on each of their faces as they saw each other for the first time.

After a few minutes, their dog Phoebe arrived. And I think it’s safe to say that they were as excited to celebrate with Phoebe as they were to celebrate with each other

The rain kicked in just as we headed inside before the ceremony, but Katie and Peter really wanted an outdoor wedding. So we armed the guests with umbrellas and they made the trek up to the ceremony site at the Pine Cathedral.

The rain stopped right before the entrance of the wedding party, which meant Katie and Peter didn’t have to navigate holding umbrellas during the ceremony. The full body excitement that Peter showed when Katie walked down the aisle was punctuated on the other end by Katie and her dad give each other a high five right before heading down to the altar.

As part of their ceremony they asked their parents to place letters to them in a special box, that they pledged to bring out on their anniversaries and read.

Katie and Peter shared personally written vows with each other, then sealed the deal with a kiss and an excited cheer as they walked back down the aisle.

Shortly after the ceremony, the rain picked up again and cocktail hour was held on the patio under umbrellas. By the time they headed out to the outdoor hearth for the first dance, the clouds were clearing and the sun was starting to come out. Their friends and family gathered around while they dance together first. Then they each shared a dance with a parent. Katie and her dad broke out the dance moves including the illusion knee knocking move.

Then we headed indoors for a rowdy dance party!
