London Notting Hill Couple’s Session | Roxie and Maartje
Roxie and Maartje are Dutch and are the fantastic owners of Once Upon a Journey, a travel blog with a focus on serving LGBT (specifically women!) travelers. Even if you’re not part of the LGBT community, you’ll find tons of resources, inspiration, and FUN on their site. They sold all of their belongings in 2017 and have been traveling the world together ever since!

So how did these cool chicks and I end up in London together?
It’s all thanks to the internet.
We both belong to the Girls Love Travel (Pride) facebook group and every now and then there are threads that allow you to introduce yourself. I posted in the group about my upcoming trip to London and asked if anyone in the area wanted to join up for a photo shoot. Roxie and Maartje commented on my post and we started planning right away. Though they live in Amsterdam they booked a flight to London for a weeklong trip that would correspond with mine.
We met in Notting Hill to take advantage of the colorful houses (though we had to do a little searching for the right streets!) and spent a couple of hours wandering, chatting, and taking photos. Funny enough, Notting Hill on the day of our shoot was NOT crowded. Apparently this was a bit of an anomaly as the famous Portobello Market usually packs the streets with locals and tourists. It made for a great environment for us though and gave us much more latitude for photos ops than we might have otherwise had.
I had so much fun exploring with these two, and getting to know them over tea and hot chocolate post-shoot.
