Where is the Lyons Farmette?

The Lyons Farmette can be found at 4121 Ute Highway, Lyons CO 80540.

Close to both Boulder and Denver, Lyons is a quaint mountain town.  You pass through it on your way to Estes Park, but that’s no reason to overlook it. The Lyons Farmette can be found just off the main highway as you come into town.  Blink and you might miss it, but that just means when you find it you realize what a hidden gem it is.

What is the overall feel of weddings at the Lyons Farmette?

The Farmette has a quint, cozy, elegant farm feel. It’s one of my absolute favorite venues in it’s simple and truly elegant Colorado feel.

Their tag line is “here’s to good food and good company” and it perfectly sums up your experience.  If you love al fresco dining on stylish farm tables, you will LOVE this venue.  Plus, they work with outstanding caterers that bring farm to table cooking and dining to life.

From their site:

The Lyons Farmette is a 4 acre property near the St. Vrain River just outside the town of Lyons ~ just 20 minutes from Boulder. The farm is an intimate space with rustling cottonwood trees and the glitter of the sun from our small stream.  Your wedding will be surrounded by our boutique flower farm, where we grow flowers and vegetables for weddings and farm dinners. We raise Alpacas, chickens and adorable dwarf goats, all who make a fun addition to your special day. We have a lovely Farmette house as a dressing area as well as our charming restored Airstream trailer.  We can provide gorgeous flowers and organic produce for your dinner. The Farmette is the place for a unique, authentic, and natural wedding true to your adventurous spirit and uncommon love.

They farm also host farm dinners throughout the summer where regular people can come and enjoy the farm too. I discovered my favorite caterer (GB Culinary) via a farm dinner a couple of years ago.

Besides llamas, alpacas, chickens, and a working CSA, the flower gardens at The Lyons Farmette are perfection from spring to fall.  As one of my favorite venues, I never get tired of photographing couples and their families here.

Where do I get ready at the Lyons Farmette?

There are two indoor getting ready spaces at the Farmette and one outdoor space. One is a two bedroom, two bath house on the property, and the other is a vintage airstream trailer. The airstream trailer is located near another covered outdoor area, which is perfect for hanging out with your friends before you get ready.

The airstream isn’t huge, so you probably only want 3-4 people indoors with you.

There is also a cute covered outdoor area with couches that your wedding party can hang out in when they arrive.

What is the ceremony space like at the Lyons Farmette?

There two ceremony space options at the Farmette.

The first is situated under tall cottonwood trees with beautiful lighting. Plume and Furrow, the florist that runs and designs with flowers from the Farmette’s gardens, now has rentable arbors that you can use to add dimension and style to the alter space during your ceremony.

The second is the stone amphitheater by the river, which can be decked out with decor or an arch. Even though you could have guests seated on the stone benches themselves, for more comfort, you can add chairs safely to the space.

How can I use the space for my Lyons Farmette reception?

Your reception can take many forms at the Farmette. The most common scenario is to host your dinner outdoors under the market lights, then retire indoors to their newly built barn for dancing.

One of the additional benefits of the new barn is that you have a backup option in case of rain, for both the ceremony and the reception.

Couple enters their outdoor dinner with the new barn in the background.

Your guests have access to the entire property all evening, including the bridge with market lights, the patio by the river, and the gardens. I would recommend capitalizing on those spaces by making them comfortable and cozy. Vintage furniture works really well on the riverside patio.

There is also a stylish bar on the property, and of course, the beautiful flower gardens.

Pro tips for getting married at the Lyons Farmette

Amplified music is allowed at your reception, if the sound level is kept to an approved decibel. Live music and bands without drums are allowed.

The Farmette provides tables and chairs for your use. The chairs are nice wooden folding chairs, but the tables are standard plastic event tables. You can cover them with linens, or you could opt to rent wooden farm tables from a vendor to elevate your dining experience look.

The venue can host up to 125 people, which is the perfect size for a good party without feeling overwhelming. You can also host smaller more intimate events here and have it feel just as cozy and relaxed.

Leave time at sunset for photos. The gardens are beautiful anytime of day, but if you get lucky and get some sunset cloud color, you’ll definitely want to be in the gardens for photos at this time!
