Shooting Medium Format Film | Film Friday – August 14, 2015

One of my business goals this year is to try to shoot one roll of medium format film at every wedding. I’m enjoying this process so far, focusing on using the camera for portraits alongside of my amazing digital camera.

Your can follow along with my results on Film Fridays.

One of the things about shoot film (medium format film or any other type) is that you have to be more careful about what you’re taking a picture of before you press the shutter.  Each frame costs money so you can’t shoot multiple frames in a row (well, you could, but its not the best use of your film).  Therefore, I find myself being pretty conscious about my framing before I shoot.

Despite my preparation, this first photo was somewhat accidental.  I was all ready to shoot and at the instant I pressed the shutter the wind blew Susie’s hair over her face.  I took another shot right after (2nd photo below), but when I got the results back, I was so in love with the first photo that it immediately trumped the original intention.

Thank goodness for that gust of wind.
