Shooting Medium Format Film | Georgetown, CO

One of my business goals this year is to try to shoot one roll of medium format film at every wedding. I’m enjoying the process of shooting medium format film so far, focusing on using the camera for portraits alongside of my amazing digital camera.

Your can follow along with my results on Film Fridays.

I am totally in love with these medium format film images from Jessica and Mike’s engagement shoot in Georgetown, CO.  For one thing, the connection between these two is awesome and you can totally see it in this image.  Second, the light is fabulous.  The light in Jessica’s eyes just pops and the colors and contrast in this image is spot on to my vision.  Indie Film Lab did a phenomenal job with these scans.

Finally, I love that I didn’t take any digital images in this particular location.  I’m still so new to film that I will often take both a digital and a film image, just to make sure I don’t miss the shot, but what this shoot told me (and what my experimentation has told me throughout the year) is that I need to trust myself more.   I haven’t taken a bad film photograph all summer, so I should stop worrying and let myself creatively work.  When I got these scans back, I was pleasantly surprised because I honestly didn’t remember taking them.

Happy day!

I think these were taken with Fuji 400H, but I honestly don’t remember.  I’d need to go back and check my negatives.
