Website Revamp

There are some business decisions that take months to make and there are some that you jump into feet first.  Normally we fall into the first category, thinking about changes and implications of a particular decision for quite awhile before we take the plunge and go for it.

But in the case of our new website revamp, I decided in about 2 days that I wanted to change things up a bit.

Last year we worked with Katie Bradford Osborne of The Roaring Artist to re-brand our business logo and the feel of our site.  We were really happy with how our website functioned, but the design had been a pre-purchased template that just didn’t represent the brand we had become.  We loved our new results and quickly implemented the signature bowtie into all of our marketing.

Fast forward a year and I suddenly felt like our site just wasn’t hitting the mark anymore.  Don’t get me wrong, we’re still in love with our branding and won’t be changing that for a while, but the actual site was just starting to feel static and not on par with current website trends.  We needed something that read a bit different, that felt intuitive and that captured the more “mobile” feel of many of the top site on the web.  Something to set us apart a bit among the sea of Boulder Wedding Photography vendors available in our area.

I spent about 2 hours researching new layouts through our Wordpress ProPhoto platform, then another 2 days doing a mock layout of how the template site could be customized to our brand.  I loved the mock-up so much that I went for the new site design a day later.  Two days after that and I was ready to launch the new site.  Prophoto made the change over super easy and their customer service responses to issues were top notch.

And let me tell you–I’m in LOVE with the new look.  It feels fresh, it feels fun, it feels laid back–all things that we look for in our couples, and I believe it easily showcases the essence of what our brand is all about–catering to couples who aren’t afraid to be themselves.
