Point Defiance Engagement Photos | Jamie and Josh

Over the Easter holiday, Heather and I flew back to the Tacoma, WA area to visit her family and to photograph Jamie and Josh’s Point Defiance engagement.

Heather knew Jamie in high school and over the years they’ve stayed in touch via Facebook.  A couple of years ago, Heather and I did a couple’s shoot for them at Fort Stillacoom Park and then shortly after they announced their engagement they contacted us about photographing their wedding.  Of course we jumped at the chance!

We’ll be heading back to Washington in early August for their outdoor wedding, but for their engagement shoot we chose Point Defiance because it provided a lot of variety (trees, historic fort, beach and waterfront) and allowed us to play up the Pacific Northwest look.  For someone from the east coast and settled in Colorado, the Pacific Northwest is very distinctive. You can’t get the rainforest feel of the Washington woods in Colorado, no matter how much you try, so I was particularly excited for this shoot.  Luckily, we got a decent amount of sun for our shoot, which provided some spectacular light in the depths of the trees.

We can’t wait to go back in August and plan to make shooting weddings in the Pacific Northwest a priority for us in the future.

Congratulations Jamie and Josh!
