Summer Engagement | Kelsey and Paul

I’ve been fortunate to photograph in Rocky Mountain National Park quite often this year, and I love it! There is so much variety in the park that the photographic possibilities are endless!

For Paul and Kelsey’s RMNP summer engagement session, we chose to start at Moraine Park. Down in a valley, Moraine Park features stunning mountain backdrops, along with the soothing sound of running water.  And honestly, who doesn’t love hanging out in the wilderness next to a creek?

It was a tiny bit wet during our session because of all of the rain we’ve had in Colorado this year. But we decided to go for it anyway because the wildflowers were flourishing.

After we explored Moraine Park to it’s fullest, we decided to drive up Trail Ridge Road for sunset.  We parked at the Alpine Visitor Center and climbed the stairs to 12,000 feet.  There we were greeted with misty skies and sun streaks that provided phenomenal light.

Just as the sun was starting to sink below the highest peaks, we trekked across the road to the west side of the park to take it all in.

The skies turned vibrant orange, before settling into a pinkish purple.  And the light lasted forever. That’s one thing I love about sunsets above treeline.  You get beautiful light and, if you’re lucky, colorful clouds.

Just wait until you see what we saw!

To top it off, Kelsey and Paul’s wedding happened just a week later, so I was fortunate to spend two amazing July days with these two..
