Last year I published a rundown of some of my favorite Colorado Wedding Vendors. Today’s highlight is Caitlin Caldwell with Vintage Magnolia, a Vail based wedding florist.

How long have you been in business?
Vintage Magnolia has been growing since we opened in 2008.  I was the store’s original Manager and my husband and I had the opportunity to buy the business and take over about 5 years ago.  It was always a dream of mine to own my own business (I was actually an Entrepreneurship major in College) and we have been so lucky to have everything fall so perfectly in place for us!

What is your favorite part of owning your own business?
Owning a business is hard!  I’m still working through finding a work/life balance but no matter how many hours I work I know that I am controlling my own destiny…that feels good no matter how tired I am!

Who is your idea client? Who inspires you in your design?
My ideal client is someone who trusts me and my team to point them in the right direction and gives us some creative control.  They are able to communicate their likes and dislikes so that I can design something that fits their style and vision perfectly!

Describe the process of working with you. What can a couple expect?
We are all about service and attention.  From the start of the brainstorming process to the day of the wedding we are very responsive and always available to help.  We create custom proposals for each of our couples so they have a very clear idea of what the flowers will look like on the day of a wedding.  I am so lucky to have a FABULOUS team of designers who are very efficient and detail oriented on the day of the wedding.  Besides doing our job, you’ll see us helping Wedding Planners and paying attention to every small setup detail.

What trends are inspiring to you right now?
The ‘floating’ centerpiece look! Big floral installations over a rectangular head table have been trending and we’ve been inspired to create a table top look with lifted florals to create the illusion that the florals are suspended.  This is a great direction to go in when a couple is not using a decor company and/ or when there are not rigging points over the head table.  It’s so fun to play around with different looks and create such a wow factor in the reception space.  We have lots of different custom concepts that we’ll be designing for our couples this upcoming wedding season.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Any flavor with peanut butter!

Where would you most like to travel?
Italy
