Alberta Falls Winter Engagement | Ashley + Teresa

I have been loving winter sessions this year and my Alberta Falls Winter Engagement with Ashley and Teresa was no exception. I love that the snow creates a bright platform for colors. And hiking together in the snow is a great way to get to know each other. Ashley and Teresa have been together for close to a decade. They have settled into a cozy life together with their dog, Midnight and their cat, Olivander.

They describe themselves as goofy (which I love!). I don’t think they can get through 10 minutes without making each other laugh. But their laughter is contagious and I think we literally spent our three hours together laughing like kids.

We were on the hunt for frozen waterfalls for our session. After doing some research we decided to head to Alberta Falls.

We met on a cold winter day in December inside Rocky Mountain National Park. The wind was whipping up fierce, but once we got into the grove of trees on the trail, it settled down. While hiking, we passed over bridges, through a grove of aspens, and past overlooks with stunning mountain views. And then we rounded the bend, ready to take in some frozen falls….and saw nothing but snow! The park had so much snow the week before that the entire falls were completely buried. If you didn’t know that there was supposed to be water underneath, you’d honestly never know.

Luckily we knew that there was water somewhere (even if frozen), so we didn’t venture out on it. But you totally could have and not known it! Even though we didn’t get our frozen waterfalls, we did take advantage of some awesome views at the top of the falls. I just love that Ashley and Teresa were up for anything I suggested, including playing in the snow!

I seriously can’t wait to celebrate with them at their wedding at Deer Creek Valley Ranch this fall!
